Goal Projects for 2024

Ah, the beginning of another year. I love it. I love starting fresh, I love making plans, and I love the potential that a new year holds. And before this year gets too far away from me, (how is it already halfway through January?!), I thought I’d jot down my top 8 makes that I plan to accomplish this year!

Cande Sweater - I bought this Sleeping Beauty's Castle colorway yarn with this pattern in mind last year during Sewrella’s greatest hits release. Then decided to put it aside once I found out I was pregnant so I could make sure I made the size I would wear. Now I’m so excited to get this garment started, and I may need to buy a few extra

skeins to make a matching one for Melody…thankfully I’ve waiting the perfect amount of time since they are getting ready for this year’s greatest hits release!

Flipdana - I made a sport weight version of this bandana as a gift for Christmas, and have been itching to start one for myself ever since. So I looked in my stash and chose HueLoco and La Bien Amiee skeins in the happiest colors I could find!

1.

Tempest Kite Shawl - I bought these two absolutely gorgeous La Jolla skeins while traveling to California, and have been saving these for a fun project where the colors can really shine- and I think the Tempest Kite shawl will be just perfect! It’s a new shape and designer for me, so I’m excited to see how it works up in these yarns!

Quilt cocoon cardigan - I really, really loved learning how to make quilt blocks from solid granny squares (shout out to Tipsy Tessie’s insta!) and the table runner I made my mom was a joy to make. So now I’m planning on making an oversized cocoon cardigan with a large quilt square for a fun statement piece. Happy Place yarn seemed like the perfect fit, and since I didn’t love the project I started with this yarn, I’m repurposing it for this project. I’ll be sure to post my progress as I go!

Captiva Crop - this is one of those tops I love every single time I see it posted, but always forget I want to make it when the weather warms up. Not this year! I know I want to make it in Terrapin Fiberworks yarn, but have no idea what color…but she is a wizard with greens. Let me know what you think below!

Tessellation Tee - another great pattern that I never seem to remember to make- but I’ve got plans for it this year! I have a gorgeous skein of Dyeing Wishes Basic Birch colorway that would shine in the triangular colorwork yoke and I’m thinking of pairing it with a ruby red. Gah, just thinking about that has me styling it in a million ways in my head!

Scrappy Granny Tee - you know, what I’m going to need after all these projects? A way to use those fingering weight leftovers! Thankfully, Emily from Hooked Hazel designed the cutest tee to showcase those beautiful yarns again with her Scrappy Granny Tee!

And lastly, I want to make Melody’s first year temperature blanket. I loved making a temperature blanket in 2021, but I may have gone a little rogue. For example, did I swatch for it? No. Did I use a pattern? No. Is it ginormous? Yes. But it’s oh so cozy and we love it- Scoot is honestly convinced the whole blanket belongs to him. This year, I would like to make one for Melody for her first birthday, learning from my mistakes, and making a small throw size. I’m thinking a DK weight cotton blend yarn in either Tunisian crochet or linen stitch. Drop suggestions you have for me below!

So, what are your plans for 2024? Are we making any of the projects? Let me know below!
